The Final Countdown

Approximately 36 hours until Daniel is discharged from the hospital, and ~24 hours until Daniel gets his final dose of vancomycin.

The last few days we've had to make sure he's not too active since he's still attached to the IV. His right leg mobility is greatly improved, and he is pretty close to being back to normal; crawling around and attempting to stand. Once the IV is removed, we think it will take very little time for him to get back to his old self standing and toddling. On Saturday and Sunday we were able to take Daniel out for a walk a few times around the neighborhood, using the hospital stroller with his IV hanging off the stroller's attached pole.

Praise God, Daniel's right ankle IV from Wednesday lasted a good 4 days. On Sunday it was swapped out for a new IV on his right hand, on the first attempt, yay! It appears that some of the old IV sites have healed enough and can now be reused. However, overnight last night his right hand got a bit irritated and the needle had to be taken out after his noon dose of antibiotics.  But they did find a new location on the left hand, again on the first try! We are praying that this would be his last poke. In any case, we're very glad that in about a day, we will be done with the IV, antibiotics, and all the poking.

Tonight we said our farewells to a couple of dear sisters who have been such a great support to us here. Throughout this entire trip, we've experienced such abundant blessings through those of you at home and afar, and those of you here in Taipei. We are very excited to finally be able to go home soon. But because of all your love and support, we've also enjoyed our stay in Taiwan, even though we've been "trapped" in the hospital :)
